Cookie Policy

Cookies are not programmes. They are simple ’text files’ which are written onto a user’s device (PC, Smartphone, Tablet etc) when a user first visits a website. They typically contain two pieces of information: a site name and unique user ID. The next time the user visits that site, the device checks to see if it has a cookie that is relevant (ie one containing the site name) and sends the information contained in that cookie back to the site. Therefore the website can recognise the user’s device.

The reason UKRPC uses cookies is to:

  • Save its users time on this website (so that they do not have to log in more than once in any one session)
  • Personalise a user’s experience of this website
  • Improve our services by measuring how many people visit the site, which pages are visited and for how long. These statistics are aggregates only, not individual accounts of your movements

Users can set up their browsers to reject the cookies but the website functionality will be impaired. Our cookies are standard cookies used to improve functionality and gather aggregate statistics and we therefore believe that this is acceptable in the context of the EU e-Privacy Directive introduced on 26 May 2012.
